KARHOO BOOSTS DRT SERVICE IN THE GREATER PARIS AREA
The aim was to upgrade the user experience to today’s standards for mobility and achieve more cost-effective public transport.
The Tamy Story
In 2019, RATP Dev chose Karhoo Pool among 15 competitors to replace their previous booking and dispatch tool for Demand Responsive Transport. Only one month after the launch without any service interruption, the new solution improved the pooling rate, enabling +20% more passengers at constant resources, thus reducing the overall cost per passenger per kilometre.
Karhoo is particularly powerful in medium and low density areas thanks to their dynamic planning algorithms optimising both bookings and immediate requests. Karhoo also digitised the Tamy service, enabling passengers to book rides 24×7 in few clicks on a mobile app and a web portal.
Tamy is a DRT service operated by RATP Dev on behalf of Grand Paris S&O public authority, gathering 73 mostly rural communities with a total of 405,000 inhabitants on a 500 sq. km.
RATP Dev is a subsidiary of RATP Group, the world’s fifth largest public transport company. They run and maintain tens of thousands of kilometres of subway, bus, tram, and urban or intercity rail lines around the world. They are the transportation operator for Paris and the surrounding region, managing 12 million trips per day on one of the world’s densest and most multimodal transportation networks.
Karhoo Pool enabled us in only few weeks to update a traditional DRT service into a fully digital, high-performing system for the greatest benefits of the passengers and the community.
